The Vampire Diaries (tv series)

(Beginning note: click on any of the graphs to make them larger)

Since this post is riding on the coat tails of the previous one I figure it is only fitting to have this one about the television series The Vampire Diaries which is riding off the coat tails of Twilight. Some may not know that this series is actually based off of a book series of the same name that was actually written before Twilight.

I have not read the Vampire Diaries series so I was a little worried when this show first aired that these vampires would also be a little safe. I did find, like many of the more modern day vampires, they have a strong romantic nature. I find it kind of hard to believe that a 100 plus year old vampire would ever fall in love with a teenage girl no matter how mature she may seem, but that’s just me.

This show showcases two different kinds of vampire in the characters of the vampire brothers. One brother who feeds on animals is the safe, romantic, one who keeps a diary; where the other on is cruel, hates everyone, and feeds off humans. Of course both of them are able to make all the girls swoon, and oh boy I wonder if the teenage girl protagonist will be able to change the bad one and show him how to love again. The show is still new, so it will be interesting to see how the vampires evolve.

  1. I have seen a few episodes of this show and I must say, I find these two vampires much more swoon-worthy than the Twilight boys. Its all in the eyes for me and the one who plays Daemon is gorgeous. The one who plays Stephan has a gorgeous face.
Apart from the fact that the boys are very attractive, I like that the show does flashbacks back to the American Civil War era. It is the romanticism of that period, with the gorgeous clothing that the women used to wear that got me hooked. It's too bad that despite how great a woman looks in a corset, it bloody hurts! lol
If all vampires have eyes like Daemon's, they can bite me anyday! lol I'm kidding, but (swoon)

  2. I don't keep up with the vampire world, but it is true that the growing trend is to keep the vampires safe. I wonder if they are trying to attract a younger crowd, or just making it easier for moms to say yes to them. Whatever the case, the fact remains, that my mom, who has never been a fan of anything fantastical, is now going to a Twilight themed party. Crazy.

  3. Okay so i was really into this series when it started, but I stopped watching because i didnt have time. But i tried to eatch it again last week, and boy was I confused. To be honest i only tuned in because it looked like a movie lol. they episode was good. I don't know if it was because i was confused, but they visited the past in the episode, the female protagonist was a vampire, and the brothers were mortal, whats up with that?
